What is Beneficiary Companion?
The death of a loved one triggers a series of tasks that require immediate attention. Attempting to remember and handle all the necessary notifications and cancellations can be overwhelming. With Beneficiary Companion, your policyholders’ beneficiaries don’t have to face this mountain of tasks alone. We will take care of the administrative details, notify third parties and conduct proactive measures to protect the deceased from identity theft – relieving the stress of paperwork and allowing beneficiaries to focus on the healing process.
When your insurance beneficiary contacts us, a Beneficiary Assistance Coordinator will guide the beneficiary through the process of final notifications. Services include:
Guidance
- Guide or assist in obtaining death certificate copies (necessary for performing final notifications)
- Live information and advice from our Beneficiary Assistance Coordinators
- Helpful Beneficiary Companion Guidebook that is a handy reference tool for beneficiaries navigating the aftermath of a loved one’s death
Assistance
We manage the notification process including the following:
- Notify the Social Security Administration
- Notify credit reporting agencies
- Notify applicable credit card companies
- Notify third party vendors and close accounts
- Notify any other financial institutions
Fraud Resolution
Studies have shown that a deceased’s identity is an attractive target for criminals and that it is relatively easy to obtain a deceased’s personally identifiable information. We will assist the beneficiary with proactive protection of their loved one’s identity and resolution assistance should there be an incidence of theft on the deceased’s identity. Services include:
- Review of credit report with the beneficiary
- Place an alert on the deceased’s credit report or freeze/close account with credit bureau
- Full-service resolution assistance should there be an incident of identity theft including affidavit assistance, credit bureau and fraud department notification, help filing police report, creditor follow-up among other services
