Our parent company, Europ Assistance Group (EA), recently committed support for the MASSIVEGOOD campaign launched by the Millennium Foundation, a non-profit organization that works to ensure a wider source of funds needed to promote personal health in developing countries.
MASSIVEGOOD allows travelers to make their trips meaningful by making small donations of around $2 each time they purchase a plane ticket, book a hotel or rent a car online from certain travel agencies and online booking platforms, such as Travelocity and Accor Hotel. The funds raised are allocated to UNITAID, an organization hosted by the WHO (World Health Organization) that is involved in the fight against HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis.
Via EA’s two worldwide corporate sites, www.europ-assistance.com and www.netglobers.com, we are now actively promoting this project through advertising banners, as well as giving private clients the opportunity to directly contribute with a simple click of the mouse.
EA’s CEO, Martin Vial, recently said, “In the fight against major pandemics, it’s vital to attract major new resources of a scale sufficient to combat these diseases. The work carried out by the public authorities and international organizations must be continued through companies that are increasingly considering their global footprint as part of society. Through this partnership with MASSIVEGOOD, the Europ Assistance Group, with its 7,000 employees, is developing its social commitment internationally.”
Backed by leaders in the travel and tourism industry, the project also has the support of international health organizations, such as the Clinton Foundation and UNICEF.
The Millennium Foundation’s aim is to provide new financing mechanisms that will provide better access to health care in some of the world’s poorest countries, and to contribute to the completion of the three Millennium Objectives in the health field: the fight against HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis; improvements in maternal health and a reduction in infant mortality.
Europ Assistance is proud to be part of this unprecedented public/private partnership aimed at supporting this major cause.
